Joe Mwaniki's Cars

Japathola

My car is called Japathola or Japz (also the owner's nickname), aka little Bugatti, and it has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It was my fist old school VW. When I bought it in 2009, it had only one seat -- the driver's, no spare wheel and braking could only be done using the hand brake. The engine was OK; I could easily do the drive up country which was over a hundered kilometres.

Over the years of ups and downs and after a run-ins with quack mechanics, I've gotten to learn a lot about my car and I've tried to keep it as original as possible. I proudly drive this piece of German engineering loving the way it puts a smile on the faces of onlookers. Will keep veedabbing for life!

Mpepe

Mpepe was my 2nd '60s old school VW car. Mpepe is an ongoing project currently being restored from the ground up. Everything will be stock. My target is to have it back on the road before the end of 2016.

Stewart

I fell in love with this bus at first sight. It took 3yrs to convince the owner to sell it to me. It was my fist old school VW bus and I really enjoyed driving it around despite it's having a Toyota 2Y engine. It's powerful and fast and still brings out a smile on the faces of onlookers.

I'm in the process of restoring it bk to original.
